David has come with his wife, Angie, to whom he’s been married for 54 years. They’re both lifelong Wednesdayites, and are delighted to see what’s happening to the club under the ownership of David Storch. The American has shown more respect to Owls legends in the last few months than Dejphon Chansiri did in 10 years.

“It’s been brilliant, really marvellous,” he tells The Wednesday Word. “I think it’s been a good thing for all of us, because at times before some of the older lads couldn’t afford to go to the matches – and they wouldn’t give them a ticket. We had a box, so could take some of them, but they’d feel uncomfortable, because they didn’t feel like they were wanted. They just didn’t bother with them.

Nineteen months is an unforgiving length of time to be out of action and Bernard admits at one stage he genuinely feared his career was over. A serious knee injury, two surgeries and repeated setbacks left him struggling to do even the simplest things for himself. He shed more tears than he cares to admit.

“I’m not going to lie to you, it’s tough to keep dreaming at times,” he said. “I’ve been in some dark spots.”

But Bernard is a resilient person. His support network – family, friends, his girlfriend, his agent and the club’s physios - have kept him going through the tough times. Fans played their part too, sending him lovely messages of support on social media.

The former Owls striker has tracked the young winger’s rise closely at Liverpool, watching him progress through the age groups and emerge as one of the standout talents in the academy.

Manchester-born Morrison broke into the Reds’ first team last season, making two senior appearances. But it was in Premier League 2 where he truly shone, scoring 15 goals and claiming seven assists for Liverpool’s Under-21s. His impressive end product earned him a nomination for the Premier League Two Player of the Year award. Liverpool have been delighted with Morrison’s development and moved to tie him down to a new four-year contact in May.

The Owls were outshot and outpassed at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon, however they managed to keep the Hatters at bay in their League One encounter, becoming only the second team in nine 2026/27 matches to stop them from scoring.

Unfortunately Henrik Pedersen’s men didn’t offer much of a threat at the other end, and never really looked like finding the back of the net on home soil.

Ahead of the start of the season we tracked down people who cover the other 23 clubs in the division to find out what they thought of each team’s chances going into 2026/27.

Since then there have been games played, and the transfer window has closed, so we thought we’d catch up with them all again to see what - if anything - has changed regarding each club’s hopes for what could be a fascinating season ahead.

Part One covered A-L, and now we get to M-W, where there's still a mix of promotion hopefuls, relegation battlers, and potentially some maybe-men… You have to feel like the table could look VERY different come May.

Mansfield Town – Georgia Goulding

It’s been a self-proclaimed ‘topsy-turvy start’ to the season for Mansfield Town, who went from an electric 5-2 win over promotion hopefuls Luton Town, to a 5-0 nightmare defeat to Reading in the space of three days.

Stags still seem to be figuring out their best line-ups and methods, and early injury setbacks certainly haven’t helped there. Their defence is also not looking as sharp as last season, which has been a real head-scratcher for fans, as they have the same personnel in that department.

New boys Michael Smith and Liam Thompson in particular are looking strong and will be instrumental for Mansfield this season, providing the group can shake this rocky start and click things into place. Signing Jon Russell permanently was also a huge move and he will be another key figure once he’s back from injury.

MK Dons – Liam Connolly

From a Dons fan’s perspective, it’s been a frustrating rather than disastrous start. Four points from the opening five games, with no wins, isn’t really where we would have wanted to be after coming up, but I don’t think the performances have been bad enough to suggest we’re completely out of our depth in League One either.

We’ve scored seven and conceded nine, so there’s certainly been plenty of entertainment, although as a fan you’d obviously like to see us be a bit more streetwise at both ends of the pitch.

The Wycombe game probably sums us up at the moment. We went 2-0 down, then showed a really good mentality to turn it around and lead 3-2 before ultimately conceding again. Coming back from two goals down away from home is a positive, but at the same time, it feels like another two points dropped rather than one gained.

The fact that Wycombe have since parted company with Michael Duff after that game perhaps adds a little context to just how chaotic that afternoon was.

I’m also encouraged by the fact we’ve already faced some pretty strong opposition. Oxford and Huddersfield are both sides you’d expect to be competitive, while holding Leicester to 0-0 shows that we can match teams with plenty of Championship experience. The problem is that we need to start turning these competitive performances into wins, because four points from five games quickly becomes a concern if the trend continues.

The transfer window has now closed, so there’s no hiding behind the squad still taking shape. Paul Warne has had the summer to put his group together, and I think there’s enough quality there to stay well clear of trouble., if not be a top half team minimum.

So, overall, I’d say there are more positives than the league position initially suggests, but the results have to start matching the performances. We’ve shown we can compete; now we need to show we can actually win football matches.

Notts County – Adam Hassell

Notts County fans will be delighted with their start to life back in the third tier. To be unbeaten after five matches, against some strong opposition. is better than anyone would have expected for their return.

They have a sturdy defence, a resolute character, and seem to know where the net is, which was the one real question mark they had about them before a ball was kicked. In a super competitive League One, who knows what’s possible for the Magpies this season.

Oxford United – Malachi Obrey

Oxford had a surprisingly busy end to the transfer window considering their transfer embargo. Want-away names Stanley Mills and Brian De Keersmaecker were shifted which felt a couple of big dents in the squad, but the U’s replaced them with two young, hungry loan signings in Luka Lynch from Aston Villa and Coventry City’s Kai Andrews.

With everything that has gone on, Aaron Ramsey has managed to conjure up a unified, motivated squad, using experience, youth and players with a point to prove to create competition and bring the best out of almost every player so far. The emergence of young starlet Mo Missanga has also added to the newfound optimism amongst the fanbase.

Ramsey’s detail-oriented approach and clear winning identity have led to a couple of outstanding results and, although it’s early days, the Yellows are fifth in League One and have every chance of a really strong season if things continue the way they are.

Peterborough United – Alan Swann

Posh are the lowest scorers in League One with a creaky, already injury-ravaged defence and a goalkeeper who has mislaid the outstanding form of last season so it’s actually a miracle we aren’t bottom of the table.

Gambling on basing a defence around two centre-backs with recent injury issues has already backfired, although recruitment in more forward areas will probably prove to be decent. Lots of noise around the future of the manager and with a record of 2 wins in the last 21 League One games that’s hardly a surprise.

Plymouth Argyle – Chris Errington

After missing out on a League One play-off place by just two points last season, Argyle definitely targeting a top six finish this term, and they have made a decent start to that objective. Their opening six games have seen them play the likes of Stockport, Bradford and Leicester, who you would expect to be up there challenging at the top of the table…

So it has not been an easy start but they have still picked up 10 points and have scored three goals in both of their recent back to back wins away to Doncaster and at home to Barnsley. Bim Pepple scored his third goal of the season in the victory over Barnsley and the Canadian striker will be key to the Pilgrims’ chances of success.

Reading – Ramy Abou-Setta

Reading are in a strongest position they have been in since the Dai Yongge administration. All the key players that they have lost over the past few seasons such as Amadou Mbungue, Femi Azeez and Harvey Knibbs are slowly being replaced with young, hungry and talented players in Kyreece Lisbie, George Earthy and Benn Ward.

Promotion is the goal and this squad is now capable of pursuing it, though Leam Richardson needs to fix the Royals away form if that will be a realistic achievement.

Stevenage – Neil Metcalfe

For a club like Stevenage, competing in the League One transfer window is always going to be incredibly difficult, and yet remarkably, despite losing top scorer Jamie Reid and player of the season Filip Marschall in the final hours, they seem to have come out the other side in a better place.

A 5-1 win at Barnsley was followed up by a 2-1 success at home to Luton Town and for a side that only managed 49 goals in total last season, they have 11 in six so far.

Hope is springing eternal down Broadhall Way all of a sudden.

Stockport County – Sam Byrne

There was always going to be a period of adjustment under former Rochdale boss Jimmy McNulty after such a successful tenure under Dave Challinor, especially following a summer of change with so many ins and outs on the pitch.

I think it’s fair to say many outside of Edgeley Park expected County to drop in to midtable this season after all of the upheaval we’ve seen with the manager, coaching staff and players, but County under McNulty have shown enough to suggest the play-offs remain realistic. They’ve been the entertainers of League One so far - six games, three wins, three defeats, 16 goals scored and ten conceded.

It’s entertaining and aggressive football, which has earned plaudits but also raised questions over the sustainability of such a style of play. County are still very much a work in progress under Jimmy McNulty, but will be shooting for the play-offs.

Wigan Athletic – Paul Kendrick

The league table doesn’t make for pretty reading, but anyone who saw the battling draw at Sheffield Wednesday will know it doesn’t tell the full story. Wigan could easily have won every game so far - with the exception of the spanking by Stockport - but have paid a high price for failing to land a goalscorer over the summer.

The loan signings of young midfielders Reggie Walsh (Chelsea) and Charlie Gray (Manchester City) look shrewd, however, and Gary Caldwell’s knack of achieving against budget limitations will be key to the campaign.

Wycombe Wanderers – James Richings

Well, it has certainly been an interesting start to the season for Wycombe Wanderers.

After no wins in seven in all competitions, Michael Duff, who was just 10 days away from his first anniversary in charge of the club, was let go by the Chairboys board.

He has since been replaced by first team coach, Tom Hounsell on an interim basis, and it seems to have worked as Wycombe finally tasted victory this campaign, following an entertaining 3-2 win over Leyton Orient.

Of course, it is not known how long Hounsell will be in charge for as Wycombe continue to look at the long-term game, but he seems to be a popular figure with the players.

We of course are not privy to all the information that gets said behind closed doors, but several first-team players being dropped from Duff’s last game, are reinstated in Hounsell’s first game, and it paid dividends.

A long way to go between now and May, but let’s just hope that Wycombe can now secure a few consecutive wins under their belt… This was achieved only once under Duff.

AFC Wimbledon – Matt Singfield

It has been a mixed start to the new season, with some impressive performances but also some rather poor ones. Defensively, Wimbledon have looked really solid for the most part. New signing Dan Sweeney has played a big part in that. At the other end of the pitch the goals have been hard to come by. Jayden Stockley up top has been a fantastic signing and really suits the way Wimbledon play, but behind him there are a lack of attacking options

I would still expect Wimbledon to have a relegation fight on their hands, but the early defensive performances have given a bit of hope.

Barnsley – Doug O’Kane

Barnsley did a lot of work in the transfer window to move on some underperforming older players and bring in fresh young talents on long deals with several six-figure sums spent. They have been playing just one starter who is older than 23 in recent weeks while there is a real lack of depth at centre-back and up front…

But they have shown they can play some really good football and win games at this level by beating Leyton Orient and Blackpool before falling apart in a 5-1 home humbling to Stevenage. That shows the inconsistency you would probably expect from such an inexperienced group.

Blackpool – Amos Wynn

There’s a certain positivity around Blackpool at the moment, with a lot of good work seemingly done during the summer.

Now, there was a similar feeling at Bloomfield Road last year, and for one reason or another it didn’t work out, but they do feel like they’ve added quality to their depth this time around.

The majority of the signings this time around look to have improved the squad, with several notable players still set on the sidelines for Ian Evatt.

They certainly look fit, and the intensity of their press could certainly cause several teams issues this term.

There’s also things to improve. In their two wins, momentum could’ve easily swung in the opposite direction at 0-0, but they’ve made the most of their luck.

The only real blip has been Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Reading, where they looked short of ideas and out of energy after a hectic few days of travel, but it certainly wasn’t the definitive performance of what we’ve seen so far.

Bradford City – Simon Parker

In terms of the window, it ended up that they actually brought 12 players in - which I think surprised everyone, because he didn’t intend to be that active I don’t think... There were a couple of departures that were a shock, with Max Power – the captain – going right at the beginning of the window, and then Jenson Metcalfe went to Millwall. Alexander didn’t particularly see either of them coming. The goalkeeper, Sam Walker, went as well, and that was a surprise too.

But because they’ve got such a good understanding of the way they play, when players come in – and once they get up to speed with how they play – the whole thing is smooth. They’ve played different back threes and kept seven clean sheets in nine games… They’re still playing the same system – it’s very intense, very energetic.

They’ve got a confidence in what they do, and I think that takes them a long way. They’re greater than the some of the parts as individuals, you know, it’s about them as a collective. The manager lives and breathes that, he loves that sort of the team ethic and it’s very much that way.

Bromley – Machel St Patrick Hewitt

Bromley brought in 17 players before the window closed and the jury remains out as to how good the recruitment has been. Several players need to get up to speed with the system and fitness.

A good start has been quickly forgotten about following humblings at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday, Leyton Orient and AFC Wimbledon. The good news is only 5 games have been played and there is plenty of time to get it right.

Burton Albion – David Wilson-Turner

I’m really happy with where our squad is in its current shape. Burton Albion have often succeeded with a smaller squad than most clubs in this division, and this is a smaller one than we have had available to us in recent years, but it feels like the quality is a lot higher.

We’ve added a balance of experience and youth within the squad, filled our loan spots, which on the budget we operate is always crucial to bulk out the numbers of the squad. Overall, it has been a good window, with plenty of positive incomings and outgoings to shape the squad for the season!

Cambridge United – Liam Apicella

After a positive summer transfer window and a bright start to the season, there is plenty of optimism around Cambridge at the moment. But for a couple of really poor result-altering decisions from officials, they’d actually be top at the moment!

Realistically, the U’s are unlikely to continue flying so high as the season goes on, but there is a genuine belief that as a promoted side, they will be comfortable this season. They’ve got a manager that finds different ways to get results, and now a squad with a good amount of depth.

Doncaster Rovers – Kurt Leyland

Doncaster Rovers have improved in every season since Grant McCann rejoined in 2023, but based on their opening few games this season might struggle to repeat the feat.

New signing Alfie May has a great track record in the division, but so far hasn’t hit the ground running. Meanwhile, new recruits like Isaac Hutchinson, Jordan Thomas and Tommi O’Reilly still need to show they can make the jump up to the third-tier after being standouts in League Two.

Once Rovers click they should climb the table but any talk of a play-off push at this stage seems premature.

Huddersfield Town - Steven Chicken

Huddersfield remain unbeaten in all competitions, unless you count their League Cup defeat to Preston on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

There is a more positive vibe around the club at the moment than either of the past two seasons, despite Huddersfield having the exactly the same points totals as in both of those campaigns.

That’s probably down to the fact that Town have played well often enough (particularly at home) to get the fans on board with the style, while also managing to get results even in the games where they haven’t played particularly well.

But even after Martin Drury scooped the League One manager of the month award, Huddersfield fans know all too well by now that you can’t achieve anything meaningful in the first six weeks of the season. They have to keep it up.

Leicester City – Lox: Blue Tinted Glasses

It’s been a really hit and miss start to the season for Leicester, and Russell Martin is already under pressure from sections of the fanbase. He was never a particularly popular appointment, but most supporters seemed willing to give him a chance. Unfortunately, that ‘chance’ appears to have lasted about six games for some, which I think is harsh.

There’s been a massive turnover this summer, with 20 of last season’s squad leaving and more than 12 new players coming in, so it was always going to take time for everything to click.

We’ve certainly not been good enough so far, and fans are right to question how effective Martin’s style will be in this division. But I’m still hopeful. His football can be wonderful when it works, and if the players properly adapt to it, there’s every chance we could find some momentum and put a really strong run of results together.

Leyton Orient - Brendan Pitcher

It’s been a mixed start for Orient so far, which is to be expected given the squad churn over the summer. However, despite the loss of Dom Ballard, the O’s look to have a stronger unit overall than this time last season.

Richie Wellens can have no complaints about not being backed during the window and the pressure is on to deliver the kind of consistent performances that befits a squad that, on paper at least, looks top half level at a minimum.

Luton Town – James Cunliffe

Luton’s transfer window looked a successful one. Most fans were pleased with the business as George Johnston, Callum Marshall and Kasey Palmer added experience, youth and quality, while loans for Jamie Donley (Spurs), Emilio Lawrence (Man City), Dan Gore (Man Utd), Harrison Ashby (Newcastle) and Tudor Mendel (Ipswich) give Jack Wilshere plenty of young talent to work with.

Keeping Jordan Clark and Liam Walsh was arguably just as important as any arrival. The squad has been overhauled, but with Luton sitting 12th after the opening six games, and some injuries starting to bite, results haven’t so far matched that summer optimism. Still very much a work in progress.

Both sides had chances, but the second half was more drab than the first and ultimately it was probably fair the spoils were shared between the Owls and the Latics… Wednesday will have been disappointed not to get more from a team who were sat bottom of League One, but there were also some positives to take as they claimed their first clean sheet.

Wigan left back, Jon Mellish, was WhoScored’s highest-rated player with a score of 7.4 on the day, with his clearances (7) and 100% tackle success rate among the stats that saw him come out on top.

For the hosts, meanwhile, there were three players who weren’t too far behind him statistically - and it’ll be no surprise that none of them were attackers…

The way that Dejphon Chansiri handled contracts at Hillsborough was largely - and rightly - bemoaned, and led to the loss of young talents, genuine assets and ultimately millions of pounds over the course of his time at the helm of the Owls.

Time and time again, players would leave at the end of their contracts for nothing, with Chansiri having rejected bids without opening up talks to improve their current deals, leaving many players feeling frustrated, undervalued or both… Youngsters would move on because no attempt was made to secure their futures until it was too late.

That will no longer be the case at S6.

Speaking to The Wednesday Word last week, the club’s Sporting Director, Simon Wilson, was asked if decisions such as the early contract offers to Ernie Weaver, George Brown and others was something that fans could get used to.

Wednesdayites will like his answer, but the former Stockport County man explained that things aren’t always straightforward - with one player having asked to put his talks on hold for the time being.

Photos are a huge part of the modern game. They’ve always been important, of course, documenting big moments over the years, providing visual reminders of what was – both good and bad.

Now, though, in the age of social media, football photography is bigger than ever.

Every club needs a photography department, people on hand to capture every cough and splutter of their seasons so that those images can be posted on Twitter, on Facebook, on Instagram. We see them go viral, we see them on people’s walls, and some of them even end up as murals.

The importance of it is clearly recognised by Arise, who moved quickly to bolster and improve the photography department at Hillsborough over the summer, and you may have already noticed some of the changes – even if they seem subtle.

An own goal got the ball rolling before Ben Woods equalised, but Yan Valery was on hand just over 10 minutes before the end of normal time to score what would be the deciding goal over in Cambridgeshire.

It was another collective effort from Henrik Pedersen’s Owls as they battled to three points, making it four wins from five to get their 2026/27 campaign underway - and he admitted to being very pleased with the way that his team handled their business.

While victory came as a result of a combined effort, there were definitely some strong stats that saw some individuals stand out from a Wednesday perspective…

The 28-year-old became the Owls’ 18th summer signing on Thursday, September 3, arriving on a season-long loan from Championship outfit Wrexham.

With in-form attacker Louie Barry ruled out for three months with an ankle ligament injury sustained in the comeback win at Wycombe Wanderers, Wednesdayites may not have to wait long to see Keillor-Dunn in action. His adaptability and eye for goal should add an extra dimension to Wednesday’s attacking armoury.

His arrival, however, presents Henrik Pedersen with an immediate selection headache. English Football League rules allow only five loan players in a matchday squad yet Wednesday now have six: Keillor-Dunn, Harry Gray, Mason Burstow, Kieran Morrison, Ali Al-Hamadi and Jaden Heskey. One will inevitably miss out, forcing Pedersen into some careful resource management.

Still, there is a real energy and momentum behind Wednesday after a strong start to the season. They travel to Peterborough United on Saturday full of confidence, having taken nine points from their opening four matches.

Injuries have left them light in defence, with Max Lowe and Sil Swinkels (both hamstring) still several weeks away from returning. Ricardo Santos (ankle) remains a big doubt for the trip to the Weston Homes Stadium while Di’Shon Bernard continues to build up his fitness after a lengthy lay-off. Pedersen has not ruled out dipping into the free agents market to bolster his squad further.

Even so, Wednesday have strengthened every department and now possess the flexibility to line up in multiple ways and keep opponents guessing.

Joe Lumley is the undisputed No 1. He has only one clean sheet to his name, but his performances have largely been assured. Of the seven goals conceded, only Wolves’ opener can realistically be pinned on him. His handling and distribution have brought calm and confidence to the back line.

Right-back is straightforward in Pedersen’s 4-2-3-1. Yan Valery looks a cut above League One and showed signs against Bromley and Wycombe that he is rediscovering his best form. His ability to invert into midfield gives Wednesday tactical variety and allows Pedersen to shift shape mid-game.

Left-back is equally clear when everyone is fit. Reece James has performed admirably since returning, but Max Lowe is a Rolls-Royce at this level.

Centre-back is more complex. Pedersen wants balance and prefers a right/left-footed pairing. Gabriel Otegbayo remains error-prone, while Earnie Weaver and Sil Swinkels are talented young defenders still learning their craft. They will have good and bad moments. That likely pushes Pedersen towards experience. Santos’ aerial dominance and physicality will be vital against direct sides, but Bernard and Liam Cooper may prove the most reliable long-term partnership.

Bernard, after a gruelling 18 months of injury, is edging closer to a return and has taken on leadership responsibilities behind the scenes, mentoring younger players and retaining an influential voice in the dressing room. He will feel like a new signing. Cooper, meanwhile, is a huge presence on and off the pitch and delivered arguably his best performance in Wednesday colours in the 2-1 win at Wycombe.

Pedersen has options in the double pivot: Billy Mitchell, Barry Bannan, Callum Slattery, Jaden Heskey and Jarvis Thornton. Mitchell, a natural holding midfielder, covers vast ground and excels at breaking up play and recycling possession. Securing a player of his calibre represents a major coup. Bannan will not — and should not — play every minute. Managing his workload is essential to maximise his influence. Crucially, Wednesday’s creative burden no longer rests solely on his shoulders. There are difference-makers across the pitch.

On the right wing, it looks a straight shoot-out between Keillor-Dunn and Kieran Morrison. Barry’s injury may push Keillor-Dunn to the left, leaving Morrison to provide width on the right. Morrison is a livewire - direct, confident and capable of getting Wednesday up the pitch quickly, even if his decision-making can be inconsistent. His skill-set suits the role. Gray’s best position remains unclear and concussion against Wolves has made his start to life at Hillsborough stop-start. It is difficult to see where he fits into Wednesday’s strongest XI.

The No 10 role is not up for debate. Slattery is an automatic pick.

Barry was just beginning to show his quality before his Wycombe setback. He would have been a guaranteed starter on the left. Keillor-Dunn now has a big opportunity to stake his claim.

Up front, Pedersen has three senior strikers: Jamal Lowe, Burstow and Al-Hamadi. Lowe has been one of the division’s form players, contributing five goals and assists, and linked up well with Burstow this week. Al-Hamadi offers a different profile. Rotation will be key and Pedersen will mix and match. It is hard to call a first-choice, but Al-Hamadi may prove the strongest option in the long run with consistent service.

Wednesday’s strongest XI (4-2-3-1): Lumley; Valery, Bernard, Cooper, M Lowe; Mitchell, Bannan; Keillor-Dunn, Slattery, Barry; Al Hamadi.

With Davis Keillor-Dunn coming in as signing number 18, completing the set for the Owls, Wilson hasn’t really had much time to settle into his new role as Sporting Director of the club. He estimates that, including the club exits and the U21 deals, there have been around 40 that he’s had to work on… That’s almost one every three days.

They’re not completely finished in the market, with the potential of further loan outgoings such as Devlan Moses’ move to Buxton on loan, but the closure of the transfer window does close what has been a hectic opening chapter.

The market closed at 11pm on Tuesday, leaving head coach Henrik Pedersen with a clear picture of the squad he will take into the remainder of 2026. Seventeen new faces have already come through the door - soon to be 18 once David Keillor-Dunn’s loan move is finalised - with 12 arriving on permanent deals. It represents a significant rebuild and gives Wednesday far greater depth across the pitch.

The club’s financial restrictions, imposed by the EFL following their exit from administration in May, have shaped much of the summer. Even so, Wednesday paid fees for Jordi Liongola, Sil Swinkels and Louie Barry - all players with strong age profiles and room to grow.

Did Pedersen get everything he wanted this summer? Not quite. Wednesday missed out on attacking targets such as Jamie Vardy, Kyreece Lisbie and Tommy O’Reilly.

And while Pedersen would dearly have loved to have kept hold of Pierce Charles and Svante Ingelsson, their departures were inevitable after relegation. Both had admirers and their sales made financial sense.

Their recruitment team has effectively built a brand-new squad from scratch in the past three months.

Sporting director Simon Wilson warned Wednesdayites when he arrived in mid-June that it could be a “messy” transfer window given the scale of the rebuild and the time required to give manager Henrik Pedersen the tools to turn the club’s fortunes around. Eighteen new faces later - once David Keillor‑Dunn’s loan move is completed - Wednesday have undergone a radical overhaul – blending youth, experience and long‑term planning into a squad that looks markedly different from the one that limped through last season.

“Success will require patience, consistency and alignment,” stressed Wilson. “We are not looking for quick fixes, but to build a football operation capable of delivering sustainable success over the long term.”

All of this has taken place under recruitment restrictions agreed with the English Football League as part of the club’s exit from administration. Wilson, transfer chief Kevin Beadell and Pedersen have worked collaboratively on incomings and outgoings, with notable departures including Pierce Charles and Svante Ingelsson.

Goals from Louie Barry and Jamal Lowe cancelled out Cauley Woodrow’s opener at Adams Park, with victory seeing the Owls go second in League One after picking up their third win of the season.

There were some excellent outings as Wednesday debuted their new yellow away strip, and the scenes after the final whistle with the sold-out away end were a lovley sight to see.
