Personally, I disagree with the concept that Arise have made a mistake (or misstep) persisting with HP.

We’ve had some better results than others, and there have been some good results, and he’s been sacked on the basis that his improvements have not been quick enough, or delivered more consistently.

There is also the process that is as important, every unemployed manager in the country will have been looking at how he has been treated, how much time he was given, and how this might influence their appointment. There is more to it that saying - they have stuck with him too long.

“Major Misstep” is just part of Dom’s hyperbolic, often doom-laden, overcritical style; you only have to look at his online contributions to know that he thinks he knows best. A major misstep, in my view, would set the club back a couple of years; this hasn't. Strategically, they have assembled a decent squad given EFL constraints, and now it's there for any manager to use. The club opted for continuity in the manager’s role at a time of extraordinary change. Had the owners bought the club in April and had a Director of Football in place by the end of the season, they might have considered their options. Instead, they decided to retain a well-liked member of staff and give him the first 10-12 games, knowing they could act later if needed. They are acting now. This isn't a one-season project; it's about being consistent over a decade.

Excellent response Jonathan. I just wish reporters would simply state the facts rather than put their own opinions in especially when not backed up with intelligent questions to an interview. When did this become a thing? You are quite right Dom does sound doom laden and simply follows whatever is said on the hyperbole that is X who everyone that has common sense simply stays away from.

Ughh! “X”. That's a grim place!
