Billy Mitchell latest ahead of Sheffield Wednesday's European sojourn - David Storch set to join
Sheffield Wednesday are closing in on the signature of free agent, Billy Mitchell, ahead of their trip to Central Europe.
The Wednesday Word is already here in Budapest awaiting the arrival of the Owls on Sunday, and a busy week awaits Henrik Pedersen’s players as the Dane continues to put them through their paces in a state-of-the-art facility close to the Hungarian capital.
There has been no confirmation yet as to which players will make the trip this weekend, but TWW understands that there is hope that Mitchell will take part in the camp after being spotted in Sheffield ahead of his proposed switch to Hillsborough this summer.
Interest in Mitchell was first reported by The Star’s Alex Miller, and it’s understood that there are now just some final i’s to be dotted and t’s to be crossed before the former Millwall man can officially complete his move.
Mitchell on the brink
The Lions were keen to keep hold of the 25-year-old midfield, who has been at the club for over a decade, however the decision was eventually made that he’d be moving on, and it looks like it’ll be to Wednesday’s benefit.
Elsewhere, new owner, David Storch, has confirmed that he’ll be joining up with the team as well, saying on Twitter, Very positive step in the right direction for squad today. Lots of hustle, determination and solid play. Proud of Henrik and the lads.
On to Budapest & Vienna where the work continues. Looking forward to meeting up.”
The game that Storch is referring to is the 3-2 victory over Preston North End that saw Jamal Lowe, Louie Barry and Reece Johnson on the scoresheet, with Alfie Devine and Callum Lang scoring for the hosts. Wanya Marcal was the unnamed trialist, and there was another appearance for Nathaniel Chalobah as well.
The bulk of our coverage from Budapest and Vienna will only be available to paid subscribers, so if you want to read our daily reports, check out our interviews, or take a look around Wednesday’s facilities in Central Europe,

Odd that Chalobah was named as a trialist in the West Brom game but he was formally named for today’s game.
I wouldn’t be against him signing again, would be a good squad player if he can stay fit.
Mitchell will be another very positive signing. Midfield starting to come along nicely!
