There waa a massive hole on the left where Louie Barry plays that was blatantly obvious after about 10 minutes. Slattery played slightly to the left of the centre but definitely not on the left wing.

At one point it looked like we were playing 4-2-2-2. Reece James had no outlet and ended up trying to play left back and left winger. When he got into the acres of space on the left he was rarely picked up especially by Santos. With the gap on the left the overload appeared to be upfront which wasn’t effective as we weren’t creating any chances.

Jamal should have gone out wide after about 10 minutes. If that wasn’t viable I’d like to have seen Morrison switch between the left and right wings throughout the game. With Wigan man marking Baz moving him out there might have worked.

Frustrating today, Louie Barry was always going to be a miss but it felt like we were trying to get our best 11 on the pitch rather than the 11 best players in a structured formation. Playing with wingers has created lots of chances and meant we are pressing high.

We still got a point and our 1st clean sheet. Early days and feel a bit guilty having a moan after last season and time will tell if that was a good point or 2 points dropped but we seemed to lack urgency and didn’t get that added time winner good teams like Lincoln last season in Div 1 did.
