Harkes, who became a fan favourite at S6 during the early 1990s, was present for the Owls’ curtain-raiser against Bradford City, reuniting with the likes of David Hirst and Chris Waddle as Arise continue to honour Wednesday players of the past.
For the former midfielder, though, there could well be a grander role for him to play in the rebirth of his old club, a club that remains incredibly close to his heart.
