In Focus - Will Grainger: The Welsh whizkid of Sheffield Wednesday
It’s been a decade since a seven-year-old Will Grainger first walked through the doors at Sheffield Wednesday.
The other side of the city, Sheffield United, had him on their books, and - despite his age - the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Derby County were also sniffing around. He’d started at Doncaster Rovers at six, and it wasn’t long until he started turning a few heads.
In our first edition of ‘In Focus’, we take a closer look at a player whose name has been heard plenty by Wednesdayites, but whom they might not know too much about. They might not be aware, for instance, that he once scored 120 goals for Anston Rangers when he was still playing at grassroots level.
