TWW reported back in May that the Owls were keen to try and bring the 20-year-old back to Hillsborough after his loan spell in the second half of the 2025/26 campaign, and the understanding was always that their interest in him had remained.
Earlier this week we explained that central midfield was the main priority for Henrik Pedersen and Wednesday’s recruitment team heading into transfer deadline day, and that Heskey was the sort of player who would fit the bill given his skillset and work ethic.
Now, with time running out to wrap up any new signings, it’s understood that Heskey has arrived in Sheffield ahead of his planned medical, with the City academy graduate expected to finalise a move to South Yorkshire on loan for the second time. Peter O’Rourke reported today that a move was getting close.
The Premier League youngster played 20 times in blue and white last season during a difficult campaign, and will be eager to be part of a Wednesday side that doesn’t have the weight of administration and relegation on its shoulders.
