Why Olaf Kobacki has left Sheffield Wednesday as attacker heads back home
Olaf Kobacki has left Sheffield Wednesday, with the attacker being snapped by by Wisla Plock.
The 24-year-old has long since been linked with an exit from Hillsborough after a difficult spell in England, and now it has been announced that he’s put pen to paper on a deal back in his homeland.
Interestingly the transfer was confirmed at 19:47 in Poland, which is the year that his new club were formed. They’ve explained that he’s penned a two-year deal with the Ekstraklasa outfit.
Kobacki played 30 games for the Owls, picking up one assist, and Wednesday’s Sporting Director, Simon Wilson, has explained the reasoning behind his departure this summer.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Wilson said, “Olaf expressed a desire to start afresh and return to Poland this summer, and we have worked together to find the right solution.
“We accepted offers from several clubs, and we gave the player the opportunity to choose the move he felt was the best next step for him. We wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.”
Kobacki’s exit is the second of the day for the Owls after Svante Ingelsson was sold to Stoke City, however unlike with the Swede - who’s move could be worth upwards of £1m - there has been no indication of the sort of figure being paid by the Polish club.
