Names of 10 Sheffield Wednesday scholars revealed as the next generation take fresh steps
There will be changes in Sheffield Wednesday's youth setup this summer, and 10 new players will join the club's U18s.
It’s the time of year where decisions are made with regards to who does and doesn’t stay at football clubs around the country, and plenty of youngsters will sadly be seeing their Wednesday journeys come to an end.
On the flip side of that, though, there are many who will be delighted that they’ve been chosen to move on to the next level, whether that be into the U21s, the first team, or elsewhere in the Owls’ academy structures.
Those who have been handed scholarships at Wednesday got suited and booted over the last few days after being given the good news about their futures, so The Wednesday Word thought we’d put some names to the faces of the next generation of hopefuls at Hillsborough.
The back row of the above image is made up of Jamie Darley, Roman Cawley, Olly Bramhall, Charlie Liddell, Harrison Langford, Dennis Kohn, while the front row sees Louis Hutchison, Logan Scott, Benjamin Sedgwick and Oscar Wildman lined up.
All of them will be hoping to make waves as they step up next year, however a couple of them have already had the opportunity to turn out at U18 level already.
Academy manager, Jonathan Pepper, as well as U18s manager, Jordan Broadbent, were on hand to enjoy the moment with them, and they’ll all be buzzing to get back in through to door in a few months’ time as preseason at Middlewood Road gets underway.
We’re expecting retained lists to be released in the not-so-distant future, too, with Rio Shipston and Nathaniel Chalobah the only two exits that have been confirmed so far.
