One of Arise’s first moves was to appoint David Bruce as chief executive. The former Sunderland chief has overseen a huge amount of work on and off the pitch. He estimates that Arise have spent £11m on carrying out necessary improvements to the stadium and the training ground since being handed the keys to Hillsborough. There was also huge investment in the playing squad, with 18 new faces arriving in a whirlwind summer.

Speaking to the Press Association agency ahead of the first anniversary of administration day, Bruce described Wednesday as a ‘rocket ship’ and with the potential to be one of the country’s top 10 clubs - and we asked Henrik Pedersen about it this afternoon.
