Hirsty’s, hot water and Premier League recommendations - New-look Hillsborough ready for bumper Sheffield Wednesday crowd
Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough stadium is all set for the return of League One action next week – with millions of pounds having been spent.
Wednesdayites got a first glimpse of their revitalised home over the weekend as Bolton Wanderers came to town in the Carabao Cup, however not all sides of the ground were open as over 15,000 attended the first clash of the 2026/27 season.
This weekend Henrik Pedersen’s men head to Leyton Orient for the first league game of the campaign, after which Bradford City make the trip to S6 for what is set to be a bumper affair in front of over 30,000 people.
While not all the changes will be visible to everyone, Arise have ploughed millions into getting their South Yorkshire home back up to scratch after years of neglect, and are hoping that supporters will feel the benefit from game one.
