Sheffield Wednesday injuries: 'Big doubt' and surgery confirmed ahead of Charlton Athletic clash
Sheffield Wednesday face Charlton Athletic this weekend as they continue their quest to reach zero points. Here's an injury update before the game.
The Owls secured a hard-fought point last time out as they put up a real fight to secure a 0-0 draw with Premier League-bound Coventry City, taking a small step closer to climbing out of the negatives at the foot of the Championship table.
Now they turn their attentions to the Addicks this weekend as Charlton come to town, and it may be that they’re without Svante Ingelsson after he limped off with a knee injury last weekend. It’s already been confirmed that George Brown faces another spell on the sidelines, with the striker set to undergo hamstring surgery.

“Svante is a big doubt, he still has a problem with his knee,” Pedersen told the media today. “We’ll see tomorrow morning how the knee is, and then we will make a decision. He has a problem with his meniscus, and we are waiting for the last result for see how we can do it through the last games.
“We hope that he can still be part of the final games, but we are also waiting to see if he needs surgery or not in the season or shortly after the season. We will see tomorrow how it is, and then I think we will make the next step in the coming days.”
Meanwhile, regarding Brown’s latest setback, the Dane said, “It’s sad with George that he needs surgery now, and will be out for maybe the next three or four months.”
Elsewhere there are no other injury concerns, though there’s good news with Dominic Iorfa as he returns to the fold after he missed the Coventry game due to the birth of his child.
