The Wednesday Word reported back in May that the Owls were eager to try and get the 20-year-old midfielder back to Hillsborough for a second stint, and it became apparent on Monday that they’d made quick progress in the final days of the transfer window.
Now, ahead of tonight’s clash with Wycombe Wanderers, it has been confirmed that Heskey has finalised his S6 return, and he’s in line to make his second debut this evening away at Adams Park.
Wednesday explained that the City youngster will wear the number 18 in 2026/27, and he’s expected to be the 17th and final incoming of what has been a crazy summer transfer window for the club.
“I’m over the moon to be back after I got a taste of it last season,” he said. “It’s definitely a place that I wanted to return to. It was really tough with the games and the situation that we were in, but I think the fans, the support that we had all the way through, it couldn’t really go unnoticed.
“The last day was a special day that I’ll always remember. I’ve already met the squad, and they’re really top lads. It’ll be easy just to fit in with the squad again.”

Meanwhile, Sporting Director, Simon Wilson, said, “Jaden was a target for the club from the day I arrived following a really productive loan spell last season, so we are delighted that, after considering a number of offers, he has chosen to return to Sheffield Wednesday.
“Henrik and the staff felt he was one of the players who developed most during that period and the additional analysis we have done only strengthened that view.
“He joins what we believe is a terrific group of players competing for selection in midfield and brings different attributes that complement what we already have.
“More than anything, when he arrived this morning, what struck me was how quickly he had the whole training ground smiling. He is a hardworking, positive person who is desperate to do well for Wednesday, and we are really pleased to have him back.”
While there’s always time for things to change, the suggestion to TWW has been that no further arrivals are expected on deadline day, while even loans out of the club are unlikely at this stage.
There is, however, believed to be National League interest in some players that could see some youngsters move on at some stage. The benefit of this kind of loan is that they can be recalled at any time.
