SWLFC take on York City Ladies Development in their opening fixture on Sunday afternoon at 2pm, with the clash taking place at York St John University Sports Park.
Wednesday don’t quite have a full squad available with Jess Birtles and Amy Broomhead unable to feature, but Kieron Lee will be hoping to see his side get off to a winning start after a solid campaign last time out.
Ahead of the tie we thought we’d catch up with the Owlesses boss to give us a bit of an introduction to those that will be donning the blue and white stripes in the months to come. Here’s what he had to say…

1. Holly Coughlan - Goalkeeper
Holly signed for us two seasons ago, and she’s been on the England pathway for goalkeeping. She’s strong, she’s confident, she’s a young goalkeeper - but she’s getting more confident with every game.
3. Imogen Yeardley - Centre back
Imogen’s been at the club for a long time. She’s a strong centre-half, and she can play in middle of the park, too. She plays a multitude of different positions, even though she prefers at centre back. She reads the game well, and she’s quick.
5. Romy Lee - Centre back
Again, Romy’s a strong central defender. She’s also very vocal both on and off the pitch. She’s definitely a leader for us.
6. Jodie Stancill © - Centre midfield
Jodie’s technically very gifted; she’s the playmaker. She’s obviously one of the more experienced players in the squad, and she’s massively important to what we’re trying to do this season. It’s why she’s our captain.
7. Eleanor Vessey - Full back
Eleanor, again, has been at the club for a hell of a long time. She’s another vocal one, a leader on the pitch - which we need plenty of. She’s quick, and can play at left-back, or down the wing… She can put a good cross in and has got a fantastic attitude.
8. Amy Broomhead - Striker
Amy is a goal-scoring machine. She’s recovering from a long-term niggle, but she’s trained well through pre-season. She’s technically very good, and a proven goal scorer… I’m looking forward to what she can do this season.
10. Abbie Hastie - Centre midfield
Abby is a midfield player, playing centrally. She’s strong, powerful, reads the game well, and she’s a fantastic member of the team.
11. Rachel Norsworthy - Full back
Rachel's very aggressive. She can play up and down the line, and in a multitude of positions. She's definitely one of the more vocal ones on the pitch, and she's fantastic to have around.
12. Jessica Birtles - Centre back
Jess has been in football since Jesus was a kid! But no, she is a fantastic player, and very good in the air. But more importantly, she's fantastic with the young players that are coming through. She's got some cracking ideas, and that's why she's now a player-coach.
14. Rebekah Pratley (VC) - Centre back
Becks is a machine. She trains like she wants to play. She always gives 110%, and like I say, the way she trains is the way she plays… She's fantastic, and she's stepped up into a vice-captain role and grabbed it with both hands. Becks is a quality centre-half.
15. Molly Crossland - Defensive midfield
Molly is a tough-tackling, aggressive midfield player. She's one of the comedians in the side, but when she gets her head down and focuses she's absolutely quality, especially as a ball-winner.
16. Annie Hall - Centre midfield
Annie's come through ranks, stepping up from the U18s last season, and she jumped at the chance she's been given in the first team. She's a regular now, and one of first names on team sheet. She can play left-wing, or in the middle of the park. There's nothing that Annie can't do at the minute. She's fantastic, she trains well, and yeah, a cracking player.
17. Milly Colford - Centre midfield
Millie is a bit Jodie Stancill-esque. She's a quality player, and she is often the one who finds the pass that we need. She's got a good head, a good footballing brain.
18. Eve Bennett - Winger
Eve has only just joined us, and she can play out on the wing or up front. She's super quick, super technical - technically gifted, shall we say. She's definitely one to watch for this season.
19. Nicole Shaw - Striker
Nicole, again, is someone who can play up front or out wide - she’s a quality player. She's got a multitude of tricks, flicks and things that she can do, and she can finish. Nicole is a goal scorer.
21. Jodie Gregory - Striker
Jodie’s a striker who plays usually as a 10 - we got her from Doncaster Belles. She's a young player, but she's so talented. She's just working her way in, getting her feet under the table, and she should show her worth up front this season. Jodie can score goals from everywhere, inside the box, outside the box, and with her head as well as both feet.
43. Courtney Kaye - Attacker
Courtney can play up front, or she can play in the middle of the park. She’s the enforcer, shall we say. She holds the ball really well up front, and sometimes she doesn’t know her own strength… She’s strong, and she’s powerful.
