Goals from Louie Barry and Jamal Lowe secured the points for the Owls as they cancelled out Cauley Woodrow’s opener, however there is concern over Barry’s fitness after he rolled his ankle shortly after getting the equaliser.
Regarding the game itself, though, there was plenty to be pleased about… And the Wednesday boss had plenty of praise for his troops after a monumental effort at Adams Park.
“We knew after our game on Saturday that there would be big expectations,” he told Radio Sheffield. “My expectations for an away game on a Tuesday evening, though, is to bring all the basic things. We needed to stay together, to fight and run, to work hard and win our duels and second balls. I think here we were really strong in all the basic things. We were not as dominant in our pressing, or on the ball, but we were solid and created more chances than only the two goals. It was a good, cultured away performance.
“The first goal was very disappointing, and we’d had a good beginning of the game. It was a bit of a random goal, but the mentality after the goal was exactly the same as before. And I like this mentality. We don’t lose focus, we stay to the game plan, and the culture that we believe in. We trusted, and we came back strong. The last 20 minutes of the game we were generally in control.”
Meanwhile, on Louie Barry’s injury, he said, “I don’t know. We’re waiting for the assessment tomorrow to see what it is, but of course we’re hoping for the best… We have to test him and then we’ll get an answer.”
