'Always a big voice' - Sheffield Wednesday land exciting attacker from Premier League outfit
Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Mason Burstow on loan from Premier League side, Hull City.
The Wednesday Word reported earlier today that the 22-year-old striker had been spotted in Sheffield ahead of his switch to Hillsborough, not long after leaving Hull’s preseason camp in Slovenia.
Now, following the arrival of Ashley Maynard-Brewer this morning, the club have announced Burstow’s arrival as their 12th summer signing.
Speaking after signing on for the 2026/27 campaign, the attacker said, “The club is in an upward direction and I’m very happy and excited to be part of it. I’ve got a benchmark now that I’ve set from last season and I only want to improve and add more goals and get another trophy.
“The gaffer is very passionate in the way he speaks and his tactical and technical analysis, and the detail, is top. It’s going to help me develop my game and add to what I achieved last year.
“I’ve played against Wednesday away and home and the fans are always a big voice. They always seem to out-sing everyone so I’m glad to be on the other side of it!”

Elsewhere, Wednesday’s Sporting Director, Simon Wilson, spoke incredibly highly of the former Chelsea forward, saying, “After a breakout season last year with Bolton Wanderers, Mason is a terrific signing for us. At 22, his 12 goals in a promotion-winning campaign show that he is on an upward trajectory and we think we are getting an even better version of him because of this.
“He will also work for the team, pressing, linking play and creating opportunities for others. We are excited by what Mason will bring to our group and we are delighted to welcome him to Sheffield Wednesday.”
Burstow could get his first runout in Owls colours on Saturday afternoon when they go up against Accrington Stanley and Oldham Athletic, although it remains to be seen which part of the double-header he’s most likely to feature in.
