Sheffield Wednesday preseason plans revealed as Owls head for Euro venture

Sheffield Wednesday’s preseason tour will consist of visits to three different venues, with two of them in Central Europe.

As has become the norm in recent years, the Owls will head over to Burton-on-Trent to make use of the Football Association’s state-of-the-art St. George’s Park facility before facing West Bromwich Albion on July 11^th, but that’s just one leg of what lies ahead for Henrik Pedersen and his troops.

Preseason is set to formally get underway around the 27^th of June, with the Dane’s depleted ranks returning for testing at Middlewood Road ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. They’ll then depart for St. George’s on July 6^th before taking on the Baggies in Burton on the Saturday.

Next up is a return to S6 where they’ll spend another week being put through their paces before taking on Preston North End on July 18^th at the training ground. It’s worth noting that both friendlies will be played behind closed doors and won’t be open to the public.

Then, not long after facing the Lilywhites, Wednesday’s players will jump on a plane to Budapest in Hungary to embark on a five-day training camp there. They’re booked in to depart on July 19^th before heading out to Vienna in Austria on the 24^th.

That camp will be a shorter one – just two days long – after which they’ll jet back to English shores on July 26^th. There has been no word just yet of whether any friendly games will be booked in whilst they’re out on the continent.

Finally, things wrap up with two away games against Accrington Stanley and Oldham Athletic on August 1^st, with both matches happening on the same day with the squad split in two. The Accrington clash will get underway at 12:30pm, with the Latics encounter set to kick off at 4pm.
