Callum Slattery opened the scoring early in the tie, with Mason Burstow getting in on the action after half an hour. Jamal Lowe scored once in each half, while Louie Barry bagged a second half brace, with Gabriel Otegbayo wrapping things up with 81 minutes on the clock.
The Ravens did score twice late, once from the spot through Victor Adeboyejo and then via an unfortunate Otegbayo own goal, but it wasn’t enough to rain on the Owls’ parade on what was an excellent day out at S6.
For Pedersen, he was delighted with the way his side went about their business in the opening half of the tie, but didn’t mince his words regarding the way that they surrended their clean sheet.
“It was a very great day,” he said afterwards. “The good day started with all the basics in football. That we should outfight them for the second balls, for all the long balls, for all the basics things. We needed to put out strength on the pitch, and the boys did it really well. Our first half was defensively very, very strong and offensively even stronger. We scored three goals, and created more than this, and gave nothing away.
“Second half we started with a big new hunger because we wanted goals four and five and six, and there was a top mentality. How we finalised the game was not good enough, giving two easy goals away, and this is not who we want to be. But the first 70/75 minutes was a strong performance.”
