Sheffield Wednesday to miss out on talented attacker despite agreeing transfer terms
Sheffield Wednesday will have to look elsewhere in their search for a new winger, with Kyreece Lisbie likely to join Reading this week.
The Wednesday Word reported a few days ago that the Owls had opened up talks with Lisbie’s current club, Colchester United, but that they weren’t the only ones who were trying to get a deal done.
It’s understood that Wednesday were able to agree terms with the U’s as they sought to secure the 22-year-old’s signature, but – as reported by Ramy Abou-Setta – so did the Royals and Huddersfield Town.
Now, with things moving quickly over the last 24 hours, TWW has been led to believe that Lisbie is Berkshire-bound ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, and that location has had a big role to play in his decision on where he wants to be playing his football next season.
The attacker’s decision will come as a blow to the Owls as they seek to bolster their ranks prior to their return for preseason in a couple of days’ time, but they’ll already be working on alternatives in the transfer market.
Wednesday snapped up their first summer signing last week as they completed a deal to sign Ricardo Santos from Swansea City, and more confirmations are expected in the coming days as various players agree new contracts to remain at Hillsborough going into their first season back in League One.
