'Big day tomorrow' - Sheffield Wednesday takeover all but confirmed
Sheffield Wednesday finally have new owners, but no official confirmation is expected today.
It has previously been reported that the Arise consortium made up of David Storch, Michael Storch and Tom Costin was on the brink of being finalised, and now it’s understood that the deal has gone through.
Wednesday as a football club, and the fans that support it, have been through a lot over the last year, but the Dejphon Chansiri era has now come to an end as new American owners take charge at Hillsborough.
While there has been no official confirmation of the takeover, nor is it expected today, the club did post a picture of the two Storches as well as joint-administrator, Kris Wigfield, with the caption, ‘Big day tomorrow’.
A big Wednesday celebration
A big celebration is expected at a sold-out S6 on Saturday afternoon as a torrid 2025/26 campaign comes to a close, with plenty being planned behind the scenes in order to make it a memorable day out for all involved.
Owls boss, Henrik Pedersen, who is set to remain in charge next season, is excited for what’s to come.
Speaking to the media on Friday, he said, “You can feel where we are going that everyone is asking, ‘When will it happen? When will it happen?’ We are looking forward so much so we can start this rebuild of Sheffield Wednesday.
“So there is a very positive energy around it. It first has to be done and right now it is in the hands of the lawyers, and we all have a big confidence that it will happen tomorrow and hopefully before the game.
“Of course, it has been a tough, tough period for the players, the staff, the employees, the fans, for everyone who has a little or a big, big heart for Sheffield Wednesday. With those guys who are coming in now, with David, with Michael and with Tom, they are fantastic guys, and we are looking forward.”
