Joe, think you need 2 categories for top games and then the rest inc midweek games against better teams.
Cat C prices should be the top category with Kop maybe £30 North £34, with lower category £3 or £5 lower.
Bums on seats and people will spend, not in the ground and they can’t! I do however accept with over 24,200 ST sold only a few thousand will pay matchday prices but if might encourage more away fans to come
I’m a big fan of your stuff, Joe, but I don’t agree with you on this one. It’s a simple matter of supply and demand. Bradford at home is much more attractive than, say, Luton last game before Christmas. It’s not possible to hit a sweet spot for pricing for both those games.
I think your take is pretty much bang on. Fans were willing to accept to pay their fair share (and we absolutely do), but to do it for a Thursday nighter live on Sky risks into goodwill (that is not all that well grounded to begin with - we're all mostly reacting out of relief to the lack of idiocy rather than embracing the substance of decisions made).
They've made a rod for their own back with these prices IMHO. It smacks of American sports capitalism and profit maximisation at all costs, alas, whereas the objective with pricing should never be maximum revenue, but allowing as many fans as possible to attend.
Where does the £6m for facilities work come from, by the way?
I could be wrong but I imagine most matches will fall into category B apart from those where you would expect a decent attendance (category A) and then category C for the midweek matches with less attractive opposition. Be interesting to see how it plays out. But it would be good if the club would release the categories for each match at the start of the season!
I understand the immediate response given the DC era, and agree some of the prices look high but a Reading fan attending 6 games will pay the same as a Wednesday fan going to 2 x each category this season, so I'm struggling to see how it's too expensive if Reading is ideal?

North and south are pretty much sold out with season tickets aren't they? Kop is the only area you can buy a few tickets together I think

100% agree with this mate. Other clubs advertise what category each opponent is at start of season. It also helps families to budget etc
