The frustration is that performances seem to be getting worse and there is little to no evidence of what he talks about materialising on the pitch. Yes we are unbeaten in however many, but recent results have got worse with 2 consecutive 0-0 draws at home, both of which we could easily have lost and never looked like winning, and then a rather fortunate draw at the weekend. I don’t want to wait until we have dropped into the bottom half of the table before reacting when we can see the direction of travel already. We’ve got a decent run of games coming up. I think it’s fair that if there isn’t some clear progress by the end of that run then it might be time up.
I can completely understand all that, yeah. I’m also just intrigued by the manager/player responsibility, though. Like when people are committing numerous unforced errors, can HP be blamed for that?
Some players definitely need to up their game. Again though, would be easier to forgive if we could see what they were trying to do and it just not coming off, but for me it looks like a lot of the time they don’t really know what they’re supposed to be doing. I’m absolutely no expert mind you and just saying it as I see it!
Absolutely agree with that. The lack of chances being created is a worry, but then they go and create loads in a short space of time vs Huddersfield. It’s frustrating that they can’t start with that sort of intensity.
We now have an owner who clearly believes in excellence. That’s got to be the measure on and off the pitch. And, sadly, it’s hard to see much progress towards excellence on match days. Whatever his faults, Danny demanded excellence. And it’s that type of unforgiving, demanding character this club needs if it is to excel over 90 minutes 46 times this season. HP is no doubt a brilliant foil to a Danny-type character. But he is not that character.
I really hope he turns it around and silences the doubters (me included) as he has earned that right. But I have to remind myself that hope is not a strategy. And I fear I have seen this movie before.

Xisco could also describe his system, but on the pitch it was a car crash.

It’s an interesting take, for sure. The Henrik we see and the Henrik that the players see could well be different, though.
