Talks to take place over Sheffield Wednesday promotion hero's potential return to S6 setup
Lee Gregory became a popular figure during his time at Sheffield Wednesday as a player, and he's currently back at the club in a different capacity.
Gregory was first spotted back at Middlewood Road in February, with the 37-year-old looking into his options back in the game after hanging up his boots last year, and months later he remains in the building over at S6.
Owls boss, Henrik Pedersen, has spoken glowingly about the former promotion-winning Sheffielder, praising his personality and character, and also explained how he’d like to see more ex-players integrated into the club going forward.
Now, with the season coming to a close, the Dane has hinted at the fact that ‘Greggers’ could become a more permanent fixture at Wednesday going forward, saying that talks are due to be had between the two over the next few weeks.
Henrik Pedersen on Lee Gregory
“He’s still around,” Pedersen told The Wednesday Word. “He’s around the U18s and the U21s, and it’s good to have him here… I will have some conversations with him later, in one or two weeks, where we’ll speak about where he is now.
“He’s still very inexperienced as a coach, but very experienced as a player. It’s about what level he can start at, and we’ll speak about this in a few weeks and find out how we can find a way for him.
“As I said to Lee, ‘You’re around, give something to the boys, because you have so much to offer’. He’s really good when speaking to them. He’s not loud, but he’ll put an arm around their shoulders, and he does that really well.”
