Premier League defender makes Sheffield Wednesday future admission – Owls unable to make decisions just yet
Sheffield Wednesday’s Crystal Palace loanee, Tayo Adaramola, has made no secret of the fact that he’d be open to another spell at Hillsborough.
The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland youth international has put in some impressive performances since joining the Owls in the second half of their 2025/26 campaign, including a strong showing on Saturday to help keep Coventry City at bay at the CBS Arena.
Adaramola, speaking after the 0-0 draw, admitted that he’d be open to the idea of returning to S6 in the future, and it’s almost certainly something that SWFC will look into come the end of the campaign.
It’s understood that the full back does still have a year left on his current deal with the Eagles, and with Wednesday – as things stand – under strict recruitment restrictions, they wouldn’t be able to pay any sort of transfer fee if they were to try and bring the left-footer back.
Deals can be done in other ways, though, as Wednesdayites saw under Darren Moore as players like Lee Gregory and George Byers were brought in on a free despite being under contract, and should that be an option it looks like Adaramola would be open to it.
What Tayo Adaramola said about his future
“Of course,” he said, when asked by Radio Sheffield whether he’d want to return. “It’d be a pleasure of mine to play for such a big club at any time in my career. I’ve got a lot of love for this club for giving me such an opportunity, so of course I’d repay them if the opportunity comes.”
Meanwhile, regarding the Owls support that once again made themselves heard at the CBS Arena, the defender couldn’t help but wax lyrical.
“I haven’t seen anything like it. For us to be relegated in the manner that we were, for them to keep taking it up a notch shows how much they love the club and how much they’re willing to fight for it. I’m just so proud to play for such a club that has that 12th man every time we’re on the pitch.
“It’s a pleasure to see them cheering, see them chanting, and giving us that energy that we clearly need at times. They’re always there, so a lot of praise to the fans.”
Henrik Pedersen is going to need practically a whole new squad next season, with just a handful of senior players currently under contract, and for many, the return of a familiar face such as the Palace youngster would be welcomed.
For now, though, with many aspects of recruitment at a standstill during the ongoing takeover, no decisions on anybody’s future can be made just yet. Adaramola and Co. will have to wait.
