Will Grainger declares 'love' for Sheffield Wednesday - teenager offers honest self-reflection
The noisy away fans sang his name away at Oxford United, and Will Grainger is definitely enjoying his first steps as a Sheffield Wednesday first-teamer.
Grainger, who has to wear a Mr. Vegas-less shirt due to being just 17, continues to impress on his climb up the ladder at Hillsborough, and on Saturday he took another big step as he found the net to score his first senior goal.
And it wasn’t just some tap-in, either, with the talented teenager caressing the ball into the top corner from 15 yards out inside a crowded Oxford box. It certainly won’t be the last time that he fist pumps in celebration after beating a goalkeeper that’s a decade or so older than him.
What became clear when speaking to him afterwards is that the attacker has a maturity about him beyond his years. He still has that interview shuffle that so many youngsters have when speaking to the media for the first time, but his words are genuine and well-thought-out.
